Take Ten: Fall 2018 Ready-To-Wear

March 01, 2018

After many lavender honey destressing teas, I've found a moment of clarity to post about fashion month in my school/work downtime.

Though the Parisian fashion week has not yet come to a close, I thought I'd jump start on my top ten collections before I'm caught dazed in my PR internship bubble once more.

Rodarte

Danai Gurira
The Mulleavy sisters brought forth fairy-tale delight in their photographed collection of billowing tulle and remarkable minute detailing. They've also featured some familiar faces such as Danai Gurira, Grimes, Tessa Thompson, Kirsten Dunst, Rowan Blanchard, and more who are quite friendly with the creative directing duo.

Jacquemus

Tami Williams

One of the loveliest castings I've seen this month was at Jacquemus, with gorgeous women slinking down the runway in looks fitting of a summer love affair in Morocco, Spain, or any other temperate vacation destination with romantic connotations. A rich, warm color scheme paired with silhouettes emphasizing subtle feminine sensuality.

Emilio Pucci

Oh Song Hwa
Having been attached to Peter Dundas and his disco era charisma, it took some time to cope after his leave, but this collection made my head turn for sure. Vivid colors, surprising fabric combinations, and a full set of Wes Anderson-esque costume styling had me eliciting sighs left and right.

Chloé

Kiki Willems
The consistent pretty girl of fashion houses has taken a sharp right into cool girl territory thanks to Natacha Ramsay-Levi. A collection begging for the revival of badass 70's era spy cliques.

Vera Wang

It's fascinating to view a collection and get total whiplash. I often associate Vera with bridal and classic pieces, so upon seeing this futuristic city droid (Alexander) Wang set I was unsettled, but impressed.

Tibi

Alécia Morais

The fall palette for this year has been nothing less than marvelous. Tibi remains clean and sleek in their tailoring while presenting a jolting range of shades. Perfect for disguising yourself as one of the fashion forward elite.

Erdem

Grace Bol

A personification of who I always dreamed up to be the unattainable heroines of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novels in 46 runway looks. Moralioglu found inspiration in Vaudeville's own Adele Astaire, a precarious and lively American triple threat of the early 20th century.

Carolina Herrera

Shin Hyun Ji
A storm of twenty models in crisp white shirts belted under long taffeta skirts and homages highlighting the designer's classic Spanish inspired reign, ending a 50+ year career in fashion with effortless grace.

Fendi

Adut Akech
Casablanca if it was made in the 80's? My favorite of Lagerfeld's labels featured an array of travel obsessed heiresses to Fortune 500 companies stomping across my heart in elegant coats, suits, and too many killer boots.

Lanvin

Chiharu Okunugi
How exciting is it to see so many designs embodying powerful women this month? Cause I'm dead. Barely there chiffon gowns and mob boss ensembles made for a vast improvement from Olivier Lapidus's debut with the label, and we're ultimately satisfied.
