How To: Transitioning into Spring with Grace

It's that time of year again when we pack away our puffer coats, scarves, gloves, thick moisturizers, and humidifiers to welcome a more forgiving season. Spring is meant to bring new life which provides the perfect opportunity to clean out remnants of the past, refresh our closets, lighten up our skincare, pick up new workouts and adopt better self-care habits.

Coats to Lightweight Jackets and Sweaters

Let's not jump straight into shorts and crop tops after bundling up for so long. Slowly gravitate toward a wardrobe between summer and fall with the colors of spring.

Pair crop tops with denim or culottes and a thin trench or oversized cardigan. Mix your dressier blouses with shorts and soft bomber jackets. It's definitely time to bring out your best day dresses for layering over t-shirts or your favorite sneakers.

Adapting Skincare for Climate Change

Warmer weather calls for less heavy moisturizing and more focus on suncare, pollution and allergen avoidance, and oil-control.

Being mindful of the sun doesn't stop at sunburn, but can cause dark spots along with uneven skintone and texture. Be sure to always include an effective sunscreen in your daily routine.

Pollutants and allergens run rampant in humid climates so have a powerful but gentle cleanser on hand for twice daily use. There have been quite a few products like serums and setting sprays coming out with anti-pollution formulas.

Oil thrives in the heat, so have blotting papers or powder in your bag for touch-ups throughout the day. Using a clay mask 2-3 times a week can also reduce oil production.

Consider a Bullet Journal

Bullet journals have become increasingly popular in the past few years. If you're unfamiliar with the term, a bullet journal is essentially a to-do list, planner, diary, and scrapbook in one journal.

The main structure of the journal is to use bullet points for each of the tasks, goals, or whatever you decided to use it for.

You're also meant to use different symbols for different types of bullets. Ex: An open circle means it's something to-do while a heart could be a date and an X could be a goal (I would keep a table of contents and symbol key handy in mine if I were you).

They're quite charming and you can let your creativity take over with the design of yours.

Invest Time in Yoga and Stretching

There's a misconception about exercise that it's only meant for the purpose of weight loss and fitness, but it can also greatly reduce stress and become a useful way to wind down or start the day. Yoga and simple stretches especially can help your body and mind run more smoothly if kept up with daily. You don't need to be able to stand on your head or anything, it's not a competition. The most important aspect is breathing and moving at your own pace to get the most out of any routine.

Up Your Intake of Fresh Greens and Beauty Supplements

If you felt your eating habits slipping into the danger zone over the winter, don't panic, you don't need to commit to level 900 rabbit mode. Diets are not the direction to turn to either. As delicious and warm as autumn veggies are, spring is full of fresh cleansing ones!

Asparagus, artichokes, peas, spinach, arugula, green beans, broccoli, collard greens, and bok choy are the delicious greens in season. Looking for more color or some fruits? You're in luck because also best in spring are apricots, pineapple, strawberries, kiwis, carrots, beets, radishes, turnips, mango, lychee, chayote, and jackfruit.

Beauty supplements aren't like diet pills but more like vitamin cocktails with the purpose of making you.. prettier? They include natural ingredients that have different benefits based on beauty needs for your skin and hair, as well as reducing stress, toxin removal, and sleep aids.
